We have an exciting opportunity for a Court Clerk to join our team! A successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, researching, and filing legal documents and managing a case load.
*JOB TITLE*: Full-Time Deputy Clerk
*Position Summary:*
Under the direct supervision of the Chief Deputy, the Deputy Clerk maintains the Court’s case information in a computer database, and assists the public with case information.
*Responsibilities:*
Reviews and processes applications, filing, notifies attorneys of hearings, issues subpoenas; Schedules cases to be heard in Court and reschedules as necessary; Maintains case files, and assists persons for court hearings; Reviews and processes applications, filing, notifies attorneys of hearings, issues subpoenas.
Fulfills case research and copy requests using physical archives, microfilm, or electronic records; Creates and utilizes automated forms in Microsoft Office; Prepares and proofreads correspondence, reports, a variety of legal forms, and other documents; Answers phones, responds to questions, directs calls, and takes messages; Opens and processes mail; Assists the public; Assists in preparing yearly physical case and equipment inventory; Receives payments, issues receipts, balances drawer, makes deposits, and generates reports; Attends meetings and serves on committees, as requested; Must have knowledge in payroll management and fiscal reports.
Maintains and increases knowledge and skills through attendance at meetings, conferences, training seminars and in-service training sessions; Complies with all Court policies and procedures; Completes any duties as assigned by the Judge, Magistrates, Administration or Supervisors.
*Qualifications*:
High School Diploma, minimum with two (2) year experience in a clerical position with computer related duties, or an equivalent combination of education and training experience.
Must have extensive bookkeeping experience.
Must have experience with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Suite.
Must be able to meet bonding requirements as needed.
Must comply with the Ashtabula County Drug Free Workplace Policy.
Must be dependable and self-motivated.
A valid driver’s license and motor vehicle are necessary.
Applicant must be able to pass background check and drug test.
Must be able to comply with the Ashtabula County Vehicle Use policy.
